About

The Graduate Program in Textile Engineering (PGETEX) at UFSC – Blumenau Campus is a two-year master’s degree program organized in one concentration area  – Development of Textile Processes and Products –  and three lines of research (Textile process and product engineering; Technical, smart and functional textiles; and Sustainability in the textile sector). Currently, the Program is composed of 13 full-time faculty members (12 permanent and 1 collaborating members).

The Master’s Degree Program was established in March 2019 and its creation was motivated by the scarcity of courses in the textile area in Brazil. This gap is evident when observing the growing technological advancement in the textile sector, which demands the training of highly qualified professionals.

Objectives

The general objective of the Graduate Program in Textile Engineering (PGETEX) is to deepen the undergraduate learning, seeking to expand knowledge of a specific topic of interest to the student.

The specific objectives of the Master’s Program are to:

  • prepare professionals and researchers committed to advancing knowledge in the area of Textile Engineering;
  • solve Textile Engineering problems with original, appropriate, efficient and sustainable scientific solutions;
  • prepare professionals at the master’s level to work in basic and advanced fields of the development of textile processes and products;
  • qualify professionals in the field of Textile Engineering by developing the investigation capacity with attention to technological innovation;
  • promote the integration between undergraduate and graduate courses through research activities;
  • develop the ability to formulate hypotheses related to the line of research; describe, analyze and interpret data related to the research; argue and discuss the results obtained from research;
  • position the Brazilian technological park as an innovative sector in the area of ​​Textile Engineering.
